Having had what can only be described as the worst year in living memory, I`ve taken the headstaggers and ripped the website apart and squirted it all into WordPress. These facts are somehow linked, probably something to do with occupying THE BRAIN. Having put the lot together over a few years using handrolled PHP, I couldn`t be bothered. So I`ve managed to shoehorn the majority of the site into WordPress, which hopefully means search engines will see some more stuff and my hit rate for “donkey porn” and “dankey porno” goes down a little. Donkey pornography made up something like the top 9 search terms to reach the site. Shame on you, Internet weirdos. Shame on you.

Halloo!

Well, it`s the night before Christmas we begin more data centre work, so lots of night working, weekend working, and sleep working. But then I thought “Oh, there haven`t been any Illustrated Smiths pics in a while”, and remembered Years Of Refusal hadn`t been added to the list. Well, now it has!

Hallo from the world of headstaggers. Well, it`s Friday (I think) around lunch time, and I`m gearing up to go back to bed. No, I`ve not become even more lazy, but I have started a new job with some very odd shift work. I`ll be “on” (in man terms, not lady terms) from 10pm tonight until probably 6am tomorrow, then doing it again tomorrow night. This shift work really disrupts your perception of the week, and it`s almost at the point where I need to write the day of the week on my hand so I don`t forget.

Trying to get the site going again

Having neglected the site for quite some time, I`ve decided to try to rip out a lot of the stuff I hacked together, in the name of using some standard tools and keeping the site updated with minimal fuss. The first part of this involves removing my little blog and replacing with WordPress. One thing writing the original code taught me was that it`s fine if you have time to hack code, but when you have a job, a commute, and a life – it`s just not worth the hassle to re-invent the wheel. No updates in over a year!

Just a very quick message to say that the site is still here, just about, and will be updated as soon as there`s something new to slap online! It`s a bit like the lame days of the 1990s – I`ll get some “Under Construction” GIFs onto the pages.

So what`s been happening? Well life-wise quite a lot I guess – moved house, up to my eyes in work, and really don`t have a lot of time to do stuff. Rubbish excuse, but it`ll have to do for now. More crap than you can shake a big stick at

Have re-done the gallery. It`s probably a bit flakey at the minute, and I need to re-categorise all the pics and ditch the really bad ones (the worse than usual rubbish ones), but it should be grand until I get some time to fix it all up.

I`ll add a little search thingie at some point in the future. There`s probably a lot to be said for being unemployed and having time to hack this stuff. Ho hum.

As usual, the erotica section of the gallery will probably get the most hits. There are some weird people out there.

Rant your socks off on the headstaggers weblog

Well it was all very passive wasn`t it. Had a look at some of the bloggy tools out there, but nothing really suited the glorious blue.. purple.. whatever colour it is.. of headstaggers. So I wrote a little comments thing. Of course that won`t make sense when the site moves to bright red with navy blue text.

Comments are open for 28 days from a message post, which should be loads of time to get 1 comment from somebody out there – probably plugging a porn site or something.

The galleries are as slow as a slow thing on slowing drugs. I`ll have to re-write the code, maybe this week if I get a chance. Apolomogies for that!

Update: I`ve rejigged some of the code, and as soon as a page is generated, it should now be cached properly, so things should be a whole bunch faster. Famous last words.

Smarty caching on galleries

That`s what you get for butchering a badly written script off the net.

I`ve updated the gallery and photo pages to make use of Smarty caching; the first time a page on a gallery gets whacked, a cache file will be created so pages will display a SQUILLION times faster. I`ve set these not to expire at the minute, but may have them expire after a couple of days.

Next up, I`ll split the cache files for the various bits of the site into separate directories as 9000000 cache files in one directory isn`t too clever. But that`s for another day.
